St. Luke’s Foundation Kicks Off 2nd EWP Program

The St. Luke’s Medical Center Foundation, Inc., in partnership with the United Bayanihan Foundation, kick started the 2nd leg of its Elderly Welfare Program (EWP) with a full-house Health Forum debut in Mandaluyong City last June 29, 2017.

The program, named Bayanihan Outreach Health Advocacy, aims to enrich the quality of life of senior citizens by promoting healthy and active ageing and empowering the senior citizens to be proactive in community building. It is composed of health modules on relevant subjects like Active Ageing and Healthy Lifestyle, Bone and Muscles Health, Nerve Ageing, Arthritis, Sleep, Diabetes Management, among others.

Retired senior-citizen employees of both St. Luke’s and Unilab gathered to fill up the Bayanihan Hall Annex and listened to and actively participated in the lively discussions on sleep, depression and dementia. St. Luke’s consultant from the Department of Psychiatry and Mood Disorders Dr. Bernadette Arcena presided over an interactive presentation of the subjects preceded with a physical activity that had kept the audience on their toes.

The outreach program will also be bringing the undertakings to elderly institutions, barangays and communities. It will also feature other component programs like geriatric training, health seminars, and activity-based events, among others.
