TAGUIG CITY, January 6, 2025 — St. Luke’s Medical Center Foundation has empowered 634 individuals this year through its Basic Life
Support (BLS) for Bystanders Training Program, providing essential skills to respond to cardiac and respiratory emergencies.
The program has reached communities in Taguig City, Quezon City, Eastern Samar, and Tarlac, equipping participants—even those without
professional medical backgrounds—with life-saving techniques designed to address delays in emergency response times across the
Philippines. By teaching practical methods, the initiative enables bystanders to act decisively and effectively during critical moments before
professional help arrives.
Volunteers from St. Luke’s Medical Center, in collaboration with the SLMC Nursing Care Group and Healthcare Academy, have played a
vital role in delivering the training sessions. The initiative has been supported by Security Bank Corporation, Nickel Asia Corporation, Asia
Society for Social Improvement and Sustainable Transformation (ASSIST), and the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA).
Participants from diverse backgrounds described the training as “life-changing,” gaining not just knowledge but confidence in their ability to
help others during emergencies. From crowded cities to underserved rural areas, this initiative highlights the transformative power of
equipping everyday citizens with the tools to save lives.
St. Luke’s Medical Center Foundation remains steadfast in its mission to foster a culture of care, compassion, and shared
responsibility—empowering everyday heroes to step forward and make a difference when it matters most.
