[Quezon City, August 1, 2024] – The St. Luke’s Medical Center Foundation Inc. (SLMCFI) is delighted to welcome nine
outstanding students to its prestigious Medical Education Scholarship Program. These exceptional students have not only demonstrated
remarkable academic achievements but also hail from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
Established in 2014 with an initial cohort of five scholars, the scholarship program aims to provide financial support and opportunities for
talented students who aspire to pursue a career in the field of medicine. Through this program, the foundation seeks to bridge the gap
between academic potential and financial constraints, enabling promising individuals to access high-quality medical education. As of 2024,
there are 58 foundation scholars enrolled at the St. Luke’s Medical Center College of Medicine.
The nine new scholars are:
Christia Erica Abinoja from the University of the Philippines Diliman
Isaac Jedd Abrenica from the Ateneo de Manilla University
Karen Calma from the University of the Philippines Manila
Mary Joyce Chang from the University of the Philippines Diliman
Shaina Pamela Fuentecilla from the University of the Philippines Los Banos
Marla Gasco from the Pamantasang Lungsod ng Maynila
Ria Lizzete Ricaro from the University of the East
John Claude Gerald Ynion from the University of the Philippines Diliman
Anne Nicole Zalameda from the University of the Philippines Diliman
The nine scholars, carefully chosen from a pool of highly competitive applicants, have exhibited exceptional dedication, passion, and
perseverance in their pursuit of academic excellence. They have not only achieved outstanding academic records but have also overcome
significant socio-economic challenges.
The St. Luke’s Medical Center Foundation recognizes the selected scholars’ immense potential to become future leaders in the medical field
