St. Luke’s Medical Center expands Social Service with fully free ward for indigent patients

Quezon City, February 3, 2026—Quality healthcare should be accessible to all.

Evelyn D. Ang Dana Charity Ward
The Evelyn D. Ang Dana Charity Ward is a 40-bed facility dedicated to providing free, comprehensive medical and surgical care to qualified indigent patients. The name “Dana,” derived from Sanskrit, means selfless giving, reflecting the ward’s mission of compassionate service to those most in need.

Following its recent launch, a total of eighty-seven (87) patients have already been enrolled under the Dana Charity Ward program. As of February 3, 2026, nine (9) patients are currently admitted, while sixty-two (62) have already been discharged. Additionally, other patients are currently admitted in other units such as Pediatrics, NICU, and ICU.

Faces Behind the Dana Charity Ward
   ● The ward is supported by a dedicated healthcare team composed of:
   ● Two (2) doctors assigned per duty (excluding the surgical resident-in-charge)
   ● Thirty-four (34) nurses, consisting of: 1 Nurse Manager, 3 Shift Managers, 7 Charge Nurses, and 23 Bedside Nurses
   ● Three (3) Clinical Support Associates
   ● Seven (7) Clinical Aides

Patient eligibility is determined through a thorough assessment conducted by SLMC’s Medical Social Service Department, ensuring that free care is provided to those who are most financially in need.
